There is no greater fear than the fear that a parent feels than when his or her child is sick. They want to be able to help them but often times wind up feeling helpless. That's why the work of doctors and nurses is so important.

When parents are unable to make their kids feel better, they depend on the work of medical professionals. The most important thing of a parent's life, their child, is put in doctors' and nurses' hands. No parents should ever have to deal with the suffering that a Texas couple has, whose baby was allegedly lost to fatal negligence last year.

The parents, from Dallas, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Nebraska hospital where their toddler went through an intensive surgery last March. She was only 23 months old and needed liver, pancreas and small bowel transplants.

She suffered an infection following the surgery and, therefore, was given a drug called heparin. According to sources, heparin has become somewhat notorious as a drug that medical professionals recklessly administer. Due to heparin overdoses, reports indicate that various deaths have occurred in the past several years.

Tragically for the Texas toddler and her family in this wrongful death case, the medical professionals treating her also injected too much heparin to treat the victim's infection - a reported 10 times more than the safe amount. As a result of that alleged negligence, the young victim suffered pain for two days and then passed away.

Sources do not disclose how much in damages the parents are looking for with their lawsuit. They are challenging the fact that Nebraska has put a cap on the amount plaintiffs can win in this type of case. No matter what they feel they want or deserve, there is no doubt that any amount will never bring back their invaluable loss of a child.
